Rolls-Royce has opened its largest global capability and innovation centre (GCC) in Bengaluru, marking a major investment in India’s aerospace and defence sector.
The facility, located at Manyata Embassy Business Park, was inaugurated by Karnataka Industries & Infrastructure Minister MB Patil, who highlighted Bengaluru’s skilled workforce and the state's growing global stature in aerospace and engineering. “This move reaffirms Karnataka’s position as a top destination for aerospace and defence investments,” said Minister Patil.Rolls-Royce CFO Helen McCabe and British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron were present at the launch.
The facility will host Rolls-Royce’s global digital capabilities and enterprise services team, along with engineering teams for civil aerospace and defence. It is set to become the company’s largest capability hub, supporting key global functions across civil, defence, and power systems. Rolls-Royce also plans to double its sourcing from India in the next five years.
Bengaluru is among the aerospace cities for foreign investment, supported by a robust ecosystem including global players like Boeing, Airbus, Collins Aerospace, and Mahindra Aerospace, alongside local innovators and startups. Karnataka’s aerospace and defence policy, backed by incentives, infrastructure, and ease-of-doing-business reforms, has attracted significant investments and fostered technological advancement.
