The Government of Karnataka has sanctioned 6.17 acres at Hessarghatta to establish Quantum City (Q-City). This was announced by Science and Technology Minister NS Boseraju on 07 September, 2025.
Q-City will serve as Karnataka’s dedicated hub for advanced research labs, startup incubation, and industry– academia collaboration. It will also host production clusters for quantum hardware, processors, and Quantum HPC data centres. Minister Boseraju stated, “This milestone is the start of our bold vision to build a $20 billion Quantum Economy by 2035 to create over 2 lakh direct jobs.”
Additionally, eight acres have been sanctioned for ICTS–TIFR to expand theoretical science research, strengthening Bengaluru’s position as a global science hub. Karnataka aims to capture a 20 percent share of the global quantum market and attract global talent and investment.
