The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has received technical approval from the Maharashtra government’s apex committee for its Rs 300 crore water supply improvement project, paving the way for tender finalisation and contractor appointment.
The project, implemented under the central government's Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme, aims to significantly improve the city’s water distribution infrastructure. The funding will be equally shared between the central government and the NMC.
The initiative encompasses six major works, including the replacement of old water pipelines and laying new lines in growing urban areas. Projects include a Rs 95.20 crore effort to replace supply pipelines between pumping stations and filtration plants, and a Rs 90.30 crore plan to replace aged distribution pipelines across six city divisions, particularly in Panchavati, Cidco, Satpur, and Nashik East.
Additionally, Rs 89 crore will be allocated to install new pipelines in developing localities like Adgaon, Makhmalabad, Pathardi, and New Indira Nagar. The final proposal will be presented to the NMC's standing committee next week for work order issuance.
