The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved an investment of Rs 8146.21 crore for the 700 MW Tato-II Hydro Electric Project (HEP) in Shi Yomi District, Arunachal Pradesh, with a completion period of 72 months.
Designed with 4 x 175 MW units, the project will generate 2738.06 MU annually, enhancing Arunachal Pradesh’s power supply and aiding national grid stability. Implemented through a joint venture between NEEPCO and the Arunachal Pradesh government, the project will receive Rs.458.79 crore budgetary support for roads, bridges, and transmission lines, plus Rs.436.13 crore as Central equity assistance.
Around 32.88 km of roads and bridges will also be developed for local use. Aligned with “Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan,” the project will boost opportunities for local suppliers, MSMEs, and create direct and indirect jobs while advancing infrastructure in the region.
