South Central Railway (SCR) has been granted clearance to increase train speeds to 130 km/h on key routes, including the Golden Quadrilateral, Golden Diagonal, and high-density tracks.
To enhance safety and prevent trespassing by pedestrians, cattle, and vehicles, SCR has initiated a Rs 3,200-crore project to install fencing and boundary walls along these tracks. The project will cover 4,429 km, with 4,019 km dedicated to fencing and 410 km for boundary walls. Subways are also being built to allow safe crossing for pedestrians and vehicles.
Currently, 875 km of fencing has been completed, with further work underway across divisions like Secunderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Hyderabad, and Nanded. This initiative aims to safeguard the tracks while supporting faster, safer train operations across key sections of SCR’s network.
