Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), a Navratna CPSU under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), exchanged Government Orders with the Andhra Pradesh government for developing a 1,200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Nandyal and a 50 MW hybrid solar project.
The exchange took place during the Andhra Pradesh Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam. The Ministry of Power had designated SECI as the implementing agency for the BESS project on January 23, with final approval granted by SECI Board Chairman Santosh Kumar Sarangi on October 22. Both the BESS and hybrid solar projects will be executed under the CAPEX model, with SECI fully funding and implementing them.
Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar formally handed over the GOs to SECI representatives, in the presence of senior state officials. MNRE stated that these projects mark a major step in boosting renewable energy storage capacity and strengthening India’s transition to a resilient, storage-enabled green grid.
