China based Shangdong Electric Power Company-III (SEPCO-III) is reportedly
mulling to set up a 50 MW solar power farm in Tamil Nadu in partnership with
GEMAC Energy.
The plans are at a preliminary stage, but if they fructify, the two companies
could jointly put up a photo-voltaic modules-based solar power project, possibly
in the Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu.
SEPCO-III recently joined hands with GEMAC for two purposes - to set up a
1,320 MW power project in the state and to jointly execute EPC contracts for the
Indian power industry.
As per sources, the two companies have bagged two EPC contracts in Gujarat
and one in Tamil Nadu. The Urok Group of Gujarat is putting up a 1,320 MW power
project at a cost of Rs 8,000 crore. The Kaneria Group is setting up a 2x250 MW
gas based project for which GEMAC-SEPCO-III has been chosen the EPC contractor.
The third contract is for building a 2x135 MW CFBC-technology based power
project in Tamil Nadu (near Kumbakonam).
