Singapore-based STT Global Data Centres’ (GDC) India division is planning to invest around Rs 2,000 crore to develop two new data centres at its existing campus in Dighi locality in Pune. The expansion will take the total capacity to over 80 MW of IT load at this hub.
The new data centres entail investments of up to Rs 2,000 crore, with go live expected over the next 12 to 24 months in phases, and further scale-up planned in future.
The new data centres will be adjacent to its operational data centre in Dighi, and will come up on more than 1.20 lakh sq. ft. of land which the company has picked up from Tata Communications through a 20-year lease. Both the buildings will be cumulatively spread over nearly 6.50 lakh sq. ft.
The Pune campus of STT GDC India can be scaled up to 200 MVA and support up to 140 MW of IT load capacity. Among the largest data centre campuses in India, it boasts an existing capacity of 40 MW of IT load across three operational facilities. Two more similar facilities are under construction within the campus, allowing for an additional 40 MW of IT load.
The development gains traction in the context of data localisation norms and the government’s proposed new data centre policy for taking forward necessary clearances and infrastructure in a timely manner.
