Ahead of the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela, Nashik’s civic administration plans to ensure 24x7 water supply to Sadhugram, which will accommodate thousands of sadhus.
Two elevated storage reservoirs, with a combined capacity of four million litres per day (MLD), will be constructed in the Tapovan area. The Sadhugram project, initially planned for 500 acres, is now expanded to 1,152 acres to accommodate an estimated 10 lakh sadhus.
In addition, a new water treatment plant (WTP) with a 274 MLD capacity will be set up in Vilholi. Water for the plant will be sourced from the Mukane dam, which has an untapped capacity, ensuring sufficient supply during the event.
