Senvion India is set to install a 4.2 megawatt (MW) wind turbine in Tamil Nadu by June 2025, according to the company’s CEO and Managing Director, Amit Kansal. This development marks a shift from the company’s previous focus, which primarily involved turbines in the 2.7 MW and 3.1 MW range.
The 4.2 MW wind turbines are being developed and manufactured in India using Indo-German technology, signalling a push toward more powerful and locally produced renewable energy solutions. Senvion India has already received close to half a GW worth of orders for the 4.2 MW variant.
Currently, the company has installed approx. one GW of wind energy capacity across India. Plans are in place to double that figure by adding another GW over the next 12 months. This rapid expansion reflects growing demand for clean energy in the country and Senvion’s increasing role in addressing it.
Additionally, Senvion India has set its sights on international markets, beginning with exports to Europe within a year. As part of this global strategy, the firm is working to expand its production capacity in Tiruchi, Tamil Nadu.
