NHPC has reached a major clean energy milestone with the full operational readiness of its 300 MW Karnisar Solar Project in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
The company confirmed receiving the Certificate of Successful Trial Run Completion on 10 October, 2025, for the fifth and final phase of the plant, which included 85.72 MW of capacity. This brings the entire project to its commercial operation date (COD) stage. The project, developed at an estimated cost of Rs 1,732 crore, will supply renewable energy under a 25-year power usage agreement (PUA) with Punjab State Power Corporation (PSPCL). Final approvals from the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) and PSPCL are awaited.
Once operational, the plant will feed significant clean power into the national grid, contributing to India’s renewable energy goals. This commissioning highlights NHPC’s growing role in solar power and strengthens Punjab’s long-term energy security through sustainable means.
