Around six to seven Gujarat based plastic processing companies have
signed an MoU with Assam Industrial Development Corporation (AIDCL)
to set up units at the upcoming Tinsukia Plastic Park in Assam.
These companies together are likely to invest around Rs 200 crore in the
park. However, names of these companies have not been disclosed.
AIDCL is setting up a Plastic Park in Tinsukia, on 360 acre. The park is
likely to use raw material produced at the Brahmaputra Crackers and Polymers (BCPL).
The idea is to utilise the 2,00,000 tpa polymer produced at the BCPL to produce
finished products that can be sold in neighbouring markets of Myanmar,
Bangladesh, Bhutan among other regions in South East Asia.
On completion, the Tinsukia Plastic Park is expected to house at least 1,250
downstream plastic processing units. AIDCL is looking at investors from across
the country, primarily from Maharashtra and Gujarat. It expects to attract
around Rs 5,000 crore worth investments in the park.
