South Kalamb Power Transmission has been incorporated as a special purpose vehicle (SPV) and a wholly-owned subsidiary of PFC Consulting (PFCCL), which itself is fully owned by Power Finance Corporation (PFC).
The move aligns with the Ministry of Power’s earlier directive appointing PFCCL as the bid process coordinator (BPC) for selecting a transmission service provider (TSP) through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process. The SPV has been established to develop a dedicated transmission system, which will later be transferred to the successful bidder chosen via the international competitive bidding process under TBCB guidelines issued by the Ministry of Power.
The selected bidder will be responsible for implementing and developing the transmission project. This step is aimed at ensuring a structured, transparent, and efficient process for private participation in power transmission projects, enhancing grid infrastructure while promoting competitiveness and investment in the sector.
