The Karnataka based Sovereign
Distilleries Limited(SDL) is planning to commence work on its proposed
distillery capacity expansion project in October 2007. The company is confident
of commissioning the expanded capacity by January 2008.
SDL is planning to enhance the plant
capacity from the existing 60 KLPD to 180 KLPD. Its 60 KLPD facility was
commissioned in December 2006. The company had spent Rs 300 million on that
project and currently it is planning to spend Rs 450 million. It will also be
enhancing the steam turbine capacity from 1 MW to 30 MW.
The existing distillery is located on
121.42 hectares at Singapur village in Sindhanur taluk of Raichur district. The
expansion is proposed in the premise of the existing distillery. SDL plans to
get environmental clearance from Ministry of Environment and Forest in September
and from Karnataka State Pollution Control Board in October.
