Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh is set to have its long-awaited airport as the State Cabinet approving the land acquisition for the Dagadarthi airport project.
A total of 882 acres of land has already been acquired, with the government approving compensation of Rs 13 lakh per acre for an additional 418 acres. The project will be developed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, and tenders to select the executing agency are expected to be finalized in the next two to three months. The airport is expected to stimulate industrial growth, boost economic activity, and create job opportunities in the region, while also fulfilling the increasing air travel demand.
SPSR Nellore District Collector Shukla expressed gratitude to the state ministers and local officials for their support, stating, "Once ready, the Dagadarthi airport will play a key role in the region's economic development."
