The West Bengal state government has approved the allotment of 149.6 acres of land to Captain Industries and Ultratech Cement on a freehold basis in Jhargram.
This decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by State Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya. The land, located across two mouzas—Sukhnibas and Ghagrasol in Jhargram, was allocated through the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC). Both companies will now have ownership of the land, enabling them to expand their operations.
Captain Industries, which counts former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly as a partner, had first announced their project plans two years ago during a meeting in Madrid, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee invited global business leaders to the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS).
