On 3 April 2008, Maharashtra Chief
Minister, Mr.Vilasrao Deshmukh laid the foundation stone for the Phase I of Tata
Consultancy Services' (TCS) software development centre at the Hinjewadi special
economic zone, near Pune.
The centre - TCS Sahyadri Park
- will be developed by Tata Realty & Infrastructure, while Frank Glynn of El
Segundo, California has been appointed as the principal architect along with
Edifice Architects, Pune. It will be spread over 50 acres of land will be
implemented in three phases, entailing an overall investment of Rs.900 crore.
Phase I, to cost around Rs.400 crore
will have a capacity of 7,000 seats. It will include campus administration and
visitor centre block with a 500-seat auditorium, a training and recruitment
centre, central library, site utilities and the first software development
block. Work on the first phase is scheduled for completion by March 2009.
The second and the third phase will
entail an investment of Rs.250 each. Phase II will have an employee amenity
building with stores, bank and a childcare centre, and the third phase will have
the sports facilities. The entire facility would be completed by the end of
2010.
