The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) plans to undertake a major water infrastructure project near Surat International Airport to enhance fresh water distribution in coastal areas, including Dumas, Sultanabad, Bhimpore, and nearby localities.
The project, estimated at Rs 77 crore, will feature a 120-lakh-litre underground water tank, a booster house, toilet blocks, and security cabins. In addition, five overhead water tanks will be constructed, and an extensive pipeline network will be laid to improve water supply efficiency in the region. The proposal has been submitted for approval to the Corporation’s senior officials. The initiative is part of SMC’s broader effort to modernise the city’s infrastructure and ensure sustainable water management amid growing residential and commercial developments around the airport.
The project complements other city development plans, such as the Dumas Sea Face project, by supporting urban growth while maintaining reliable water services.
