The Union ministry of road transport, highways and shipping has initiated the survery survey work for the proposed coastal road from Gopalpur in Odisha to Digha in West Bengal.
The ministry intends to prepare the DPR by December 2015 and take up the execution of the project in 2016. The central government is expected to spend Rs.5,000 crore on the highway.
The proposed highway would help connect several upcoming ports in the state like Gopalpur, Astaranga, Paradeep, Kirtania and Chandipur.
