The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development
Corporation (TIDCO) has invited expressions of interest (EoIs) from private
sector participants to implement a rubber industrial park project, in joint
sector.
The park would feature
state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities required for development of
rubber-based industries with focus on the export market. TIDCO has completed a
techno-economic feasibility study and a detailed market survey, which have
indicated that the project is economically viable. The Central government has
sanctioned Rs.7.16 crore as subsidy under the
Critical Infrastructure Balancing Scheme with a view to boost prospects for
rubber industries at the park. The subsidy would be utilised for creating
common infrastructure facilities at the park.
Location:
The park would
be located at Shenbagaraman Pudur, 12 km from Nagercoil, in Kanyakumari
district of Tamil Nadu.
Land:
The park would be spread over 135 acres
of land, acquisition of which is in progress.
Project cost:
The cost of the project is estimated at
Rs.14.15 crore.
Common facilities planned:
The park would feature facilities
such as raw material warehouse, common testing facilities, internal roads,
common effluent treatment plant, water and power supply.
Private promoter’s equity
investment:
The private promoter would
contribute around Rs.3 crore as equity.
Debt:
A sum of Rs.3.5 crore is proposed to
be mobilised from financial institutions.

submission of EoIs is 29 November 2001.
