Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) is planning to set up a solar park in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu.
TIDCO is proposing to set up a 1,000 MW solar park in public-private ventures with an estimated investment of Rs 920 crore. Initially, as a part of Phase I, TIDCO with Raasi Green Earth Energy plans to develop a solar power project with a capacity of 100 MW. The solar project which is expected to be commissioned within six months will come up over 500 acre dry land in Paramakudi taluk of Ramanathapuram district.
In Phase II, TIDCO has proposed to facilitate 1,000 MW capacity solar power park projects in multiple locations in association with private players during the current fiscal with an estimated investment of Rs 9,000 crore. The proposed solar parks is expected to provide facilities to the independent solar power producers such as developed lands, roads, water supply, drainage, dedicated power and evacuation facilities.
