The Tamil Nadu Maritime Board (TNMB) proposes to develop the Cuddalore minor
port under PPP mode. IIT-Madras has suggested a three-phase development at an
investment of Rs 125 crore for the project.
The port has infrastructure such as breakwater, administrative buildings and
barge loading/ unloading berths and about 100 acre under the control of the TNMB.
Owing to fund limitations, the TNMB wants to develop the infrastructure for
the port on develop, operate, maintain, share and transfer (DOMST) basis on a
30-year concession period.
