The Odisha government’s ministerial clearance committee is yet to give the go-ahead to the much awaited expansion plan of NTPC-run Talcher Thermal Power Station (TTPS). The project will entail an investment of Rs 7,000 crore.
The 460 MW TTPS is going to be phased out in 2021 and NTPC plans to replace it with two 660 MW units.
The contract bid has been opened and four bidders have participated in the tender. While technical evaluation has been completed, the opening of the financial bid will take place soon. The new plant will be commissioned in 36 months from date of the work order.
