Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated the Equinix Data Centre at SIPCOT-Siruseri IT Park, established with an investment of Rs 574 crore, marking a major step toward positioning Tamil Nadu as India’s digital hub.
Equinix, a US-headquartered global digital infrastructure provider, has developed the state-of-the-art facility in Chengalpattu district to support artificial intelligence, next-generation technologies, and international connectivity for global businesses. A memorandum of understanding (MoU)was earlier signed in the CM’s presence, with the foundation stone laid during the 2022 investors’ summit.
At the launch event held at the Secretariat, CM Stalin highlighted the government’s initiatives to attract investment, generate high-paying jobs, and build a one-trillion-USD economy. The government noted that Chennai is emerging rapidly as a hub for IT and data centres, with several companies establishing new facilities. The project is expected to create opportunities for skilled youth, strengthen infrastructure, and enhance Tamil Nadu’s global competitiveness.
