Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari highlighted the government's efforts to achieve a 20 percent ethanol blending target in petrol within the next two months.
Speaking at the second Industrial Decarbonization Summit - Road to net zero, the Minister emphasised the development of vehicles capable of running on 100 per cent bio-ethanol. He stressed the importance of reducing fossil fuel use and decarbonising various sectors.
These vehicles are expected to lower running costs compared to traditional petrol-powered vehicles and significantly cut down pollution levels. Additionally, the Minister unveiled the Indian Association for Air Pollution Control’s (IAAPC) activity report for 2022-24 during the event.
