The Dhuriyapar region of the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) is set to witness a surge in industrial investment, with the Tata Group intending to join major players like Adani and Reliance.
Tata Power has proposed to set up a large 100-MW solar power plant in the area, with plans to acquire 500 acres of land from GIDA to facilitate the project. A high-level meeting between GIDA officials and Tata Power representatives recently took place, with a site inspection already conducted. GIDA is fast-tracking the land transfer process, expected to be finalised soon.
“The Tata Group is expected to invest approximately Rs 800 crore in this project,” stated a GIDA official. The plant aims to generate 20 crore units of electricity annually and will provide direct employment to over 300 people, alongside indirect work opportunities. The project will be crucial in meeting the region’s growing electricity needs and addressing the local energy crisis.
