Tata Power Company is targeting the resumption of operations at its Mundra supercritical thermal plant by 31 December, 2025, following its shutdown in July 2025.
The company has been taking necessary steps to address technical issues and complete essential overhauling work. The Mundra plant, which uses imported coal, supplies power to multiple states, including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Punjab. It contributes significantly to Tata Power's revenue, accounting for 17.5 percent of the company’s total turnover, which was Rs 64,502 crore in FY25.
In November, it was reported that Tata Power would sign a supplementary power purchase agreement with the Gujarat government to facilitate the plant’s restart. The plant’s closure was initially set to last until 30 November, 2025, but the company now expects to have it back in operation by the year-end.
