Tata Power is set to add 2.5–2.7 GW of new capacity in FY26, following a 2.3 GW addition in FY25.
According to CEO Praveer Sinha, the company had originally planned a capital expenditure of Rs 20,000 crore for FY25 but managed over Rs 16,000 crore due to delays in transmission and renewable projects. “We are also finalising long-term wind turbine supply (1–1.5 GW) within the next three-four weeks,” he noted.
Tata Power is also showing strong interest in the privatisation of two power distribution companies in Uttar Pradesh - Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam (PVVNL) and Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam (DVVNL), which cover 42 of the state’s 75 districts. The company continues to evaluate opportunities aligned with its long-term strategy. Regarding exports, the company's current focus is the domestic market under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, which requires GTR modules. After that, it may examine export possibilities.
