The Telangana government on 29 Januray, 2026 handed over 300 acres of land required for the revival of Mamnoor Airport in civil aviation, clearing the way for the long-awaited project.
The handover took place at Begumpet airport, where Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka transferred the land to Minister of State for Civil Aviation Rammohan Naidu. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) will fund the project, which includes constructing a 2,500-mtrs. runway, control tower, fire and safety facilities, and other essential infrastructure. The project had been stalled for years despite an agreement with AAI.
Minister Konda Surekha highlighted that the project gained priority after the current Chief Minister assumed office. The revival of Mamnoor Airport is seen as crucial for the growth of regional air connectivity and will support the state's expanding aviation sector.
