Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels, which owns and operates The Park in Kolkata, has outlined its expansion plan for the doubling of hotel rooms in the next four to five years. The company's strategy to reach the goal focuses on building and expanding owned hotels, as well as through lease and management contracts.
The company will add about 2,250 rooms in the next five years, including 630 rooms on owned land, under six brands. The Park presently has 27 hotels spread across 18 locations. Moreover, a major development will come up on EM Bypass road where a 250-key luxury hotel will be built, for which construction is going to start next year and completion is expected by 2028-29. For this, a joint development agreement has been reached between Apeejay and Ambuja Neotia Group whereby the latter will also develop and market 100-key service apartments.
In regard to other cities, The Park is in the process of developing a 200-key hotel in Pune which will be operational by 2026-27, and the company will also add 100 rooms to an existing Visakhapatnam hotel and 80 keys to a property in Navi Mumbai. The combined investment in developing the rooms in owned properties is estimated at Rs 630 crore.
By March 2024, several managed properties in Mussoorie, Indore, Pune, Manali, Lansdowne, and Udaipur would be operational, and further in the next financial year, it will operationalise two prime developments under the leased category, a 33-room palace hotel in Patiala and a 24-room palace hotel in Chettinad, near Chennai under The Park brand.
