Titagarh Rail Systems (TRSL) has successfully launched the third Diving Support Craft (DSC) for the Indian Navy, part of a five-vessel series under the Make in India initiative.
Designed as catamaran-type vessels with advanced indigenous equipment, DSCs will assist the Navy’s Command Clearance Diving Teams in critical underwater operations and provide advanced training platforms for its diving cadre. Umesh Chowdhary, Vice-Chairman and MD of TRSL, stated that the launch demonstrates the company’s expanding naval shipbuilding capabilities and reinforces its commitment to defence manufacturing. He emphasised the role of DSCs in enhancing underwater operational strength while showcasing TRSL’s contribution to indigenous defence projects.
The Shipbuilding and Maritime Systems (SMS) Division of TRSL, responsible for this achievement, is being carved into a new entity to optimise growth. This move will allow TRSL to sharpen its focus on its core rail business while continuing to support India’s defence sector through high-precision vessels.
