Vidarbha witnessed a significant boost in rail-road connectivity as Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated eight major infrastructure projects, including four road over bridges (RoBs), three subways (RuBs), and the long-awaited Lakadganj flyover in Nagpur.
These projects, developed under a 50:50 cost-sharing arrangement between the Ministry of Railways and the Maharashtra government, are expected to reduce traffic congestion, improve road safety, and eliminate delays at railway level crossings. The inaugurations were part of a larger event where 12 rail-road projects worth Rs 609 crore, constructed by MahaRail, were dedicated to the public across seven districts of Maharashtra. Addressing the event via video conference, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the state’s plan to become “railway-crossing free,” noting that of 524 level crossings, many are being addressed through RoBs and subways.
The 1,372-mtrs. Lakadganj flyover, built at Rs 135 crore, will ease traffic on the busy Old Bhandara Road corridor, improving urban mobility and connectivity in the region.
