Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, inaugurated the 435-MW Gorbea Solar Power Project in Rajasthan on 19 July, 2025.
Developed by Zelestra India, the project was completed in under eight months and spans 1,250 acres. It operates under a 25-year power purchase agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India. The Minister highlighted Rajasthan’s leadership in renewable energy, noting that nearly 70 percent of the state’s power capacity now comes from renewables, with over 35.4 gigawatts installed—29.5 GW from solar and 5.2 GW from wind.
Rajasthan adopted the Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024 and the Rajasthan Green Hydrogen Policy. Last year, the state signed investment commitments exceeding Rs 6.57 lakh crore, primarily focused on renewables and green hydrogen. Under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, over Rs 325 crore in subsidies have been disbursed for 49,000 rooftop installations in Rajasthan.
