Union Minister of Communications and DONER, Jyotiraditya M Scindia, today inaugurated the VTU-VRIF-TCOE Hub and Spoke of Excellence in Bengaluru, a collaborative initiative by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Visvesvaraya Research and Innovation Foundation (VRIF), and Telecom Centres of Excellence (TCOE) India.
This Centre of Excellence (CoE) aims to foster a cutting-edge innovation ecosystem focused on emerging technologies like 5G/6G communications, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), AR/VR, quantum computing, and healthcare tech.
The CoE will serve as a launchpad for deep-tech research and startup incubation, underpinned by a strong academia-industry partnership. Over 20 startups and 30 academic institutions are already onboard, with support from leading tech firms like Keysight Technologies, QpiAI, and Televerge.
The Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) will oversee skill development. Scindia also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance shift, stating, “PM Modi has fundamentally redefined the role of government—from a regulator to a facilitator.”
