Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi to review the progress and proposals of national highway projects in the state.
The meeting, held at Bharat Mandapam, focused on strengthening road infrastructure to support connectivity, tourism and economic growth. Dhami sought approvals for key projects including the Rishikesh Bypass, Almora–Danya–Panar Ghat Road, Jeolikot–Khairna–Gairsain–Karnaprayag Road and the Almora–Bageshwar–Kanda–Udiari Band Road. The proposed 12.67-km four-lane Rishikesh Bypass is estimated to cost Rs 1,161 crore and includes elevated stretches, bridges and railway overbridges to ensure smooth traffic flow. Other projects aim to widen and upgrade critical hill roads across the state.
CM Dhami said Uttarakhand has made notable progress in road development, adding that “Uttarakhand is rapidly progressing on the path of development with a smooth, safe, modern, and forward-looking road network.” He highlighted that improved highways are boosting pilgrimage, tourism, disaster management and border connectivity.
