Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup JSC is accelerating its entry into India across multiple sectors, including smart cities, hospitality, green energy, and automotive.
Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, stated, “Our chairman’s vision is to make India the second Vietnam, which means we want to bring the whole ecosystem of Vingroup in India. We want to build smart cities across India and a smart city needs at least 2,000 acres of land. The second one is to go all green energy with VinEnergo… we are already operating in Philippines and Indonesia. We’ve got 4,000 megawatt in those projects and we want to do the same in India.”
Additionally, the company plans to develop resorts and hospitals nationwide and is currently in discussions with several state governments.
After electric cars, Vingroup plans to introduce electric two-wheelers and e-buses from next year, launching an EV every six months. The company has established a manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, with a current capacity of 50,000 cars per annum, set to rise to 1.5 lakh in phase two. VinFast is converting ebuses to right-hand drive and pursuing resorts and hospitals in partnership with state governments.
