Waaree Energies has inaugurated a 5.4-GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Chikhli, Gujarat, marking a significant milestone in India's renewable energy sector.
The facility, spread across 150 acres with a built-up area of 101 acres, was inaugurated in the presence of Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. "Bharat's largest solar cell manufacturing Gigafactory inaugurated by Waaree Energies in Chikhli, Gujarat," the company stated.
The launch aligns with India's vision of becoming a global hub for clean energy technologies and reinforces the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The facility is expected to generate over 9,500 direct and 30,000 indirect employment opportunities in the region.
Headquartered in Mumbai, Waaree Energies is a leading renewable energy company with a global solar PV module manufacturing capacity of 15 GW, including 1.3 GW from Indosolar and 1.6 GW in Texas, US.
