Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting has acquired personal care brands Jo, Doy, and Bacter Shield from VVF (India), a contract manufacturer, marking its third acquisition in 12 months. As part of its strategic plan, this acquisition will enable Wipro to expand its personal wash segment.
These three brands together recorded a revenue of more than Rs 210 crore for VVF during FY23. Originally founded by Godrej Pallonji Joshi as The Vegetable Vitamin Foods Company in Mumbai, VVF has a production capacity of 3,00,000 tonne annually in manufacturing plants across four continents.
Jo toilet soap is currently sold in Northern, Eastern and Western states of the country. Doy operates in the premium brands like Pears and Dove, while Bacter Shield has an antibacterial range of soap and handwash.
Wipro has marked its footprint with its flagship brands Chandrika and Santoor. It has invested more than USD one billion to fund 15 fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) acquisitions since 2003.
