HPCL Shapoorji Energy is setting up of a LNG storage and re-gasification unit at Chhara in Junagadh district of Gujarat.
The project will be implemented in two stages. Stage-I comprises floating storage and re-gasification unit vessel of 2.5 million tpa and Stage-II comprises on-shore terminal include receiving facilities of 10 million tpa in two phases of five million tpa each.
The project will be implemented by HPCL Shapoorji Energy, a 50:50 joint venture (JV) company of HPCL and SP Ports.
The estimated value of the project is Rs 5,408.82 crore.
The terms of reference (ToR) was granted by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) for the project in June 2014.
The financial closure for the project was completed in July 2016. The company was still awaiting for environmental clearances and necessary government clearances.
Finally in March 2019, environmental clearances and CRZ clearance was accorded for the project.
Consortium of IHI Corp and AFCONS Infrastructure was awarded an EPC contract for LNG storage tanks while Toyo Engineering India bagged contract for construction of re-gassification facilities at the terminal.
As per the latest information available with Projects Today, contraction work on the project has been recently commence.
The project expected to be completed by March 2022.
