Work on Jammu Smart City project is likely to start by December 2017. The first installment of Rs 200 crore of the Rs 3,600 crore project is scheduled to be released in December 2017 by the Centre.
The ground work for the Smart City project is in the final stages.
The Jammu Smart City project will cost Rs 3,600 crore including the Rs 1,600 crore under convergence and Rs 1,000 crore under public private partnership (PPP) mode.
Of the 27 AMRUT projects that are being taken in Jammu, 15 are active and the remaining 12 are in the tendering phase.
Nineteen rehri zones have been identified and five are in the development stage.
By November 2017, the intelligent traffic signal lights will be operational and multi-tier parking at Panjtirthi, Peerkho and City Chowk will improve the situation of traffic.
For solid waste management, a plant will come up at Kot Bhalwal for which Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) is going to float tenders very soon.
