Agarwal Sponge & Energy is planning to expand sponge iron capacity from 90,000 tpa to 1,95,000 tpa by installation of one x 350 TPD DRI kiln at Kudathini village in Ballari district of Karnataka.
The project entailing an investment of Rs 390 crore will spread over 24.09 acre of land. It will include products like billets/hot metal by installation of induction furnace with CCM and LRF with a capacity of 4,18,630 tpa and hot strips/coils of 4,00,000 tpa. The sponge iron project will generate indirect employment for 300 persons.
In February 2020, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) accorded terms of reference (ToR) for the project.
As per information available with Projects Today, work is expected to commence by October 2020. The project will be completed by December 2021.
