The work on the 20.6 km double-decker elevated highway between Chennai Port and Maduravoyal is likely to start soon. The construction work will be completed within two-and-a-half years.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) project will extend from the southern gate of Chennai port to Maduravoyal on NH-4 in Tamil Nadu under NHDP Phase-VII. It is being developed at a cost of Rs 5,855 crore.
The project will be implemented in four packages (I,II,III&IV), and J Kumar Infraprojects (JKIL), has been awarded the contract to build all four packages.
The proposed project would expedite movement of cargo from and to the Chennai port.
