Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister KH Muniyappa has said that drinking water from the Yettinahole project will reach Bengaluru Rural district within a year, as long-pending hurdles have been cleared and work is progressing rapidly.
Speaking after inaugurating the distribution of borewell pump motors under the Ganga Kalyana scheme in Devanahalli, he said the project has entered a crucial execution phase. Pipeline work covering nearly 250 km is underway at a fast pace, with water to be stored near Koratagere in Tumakuru district before being further stored and pumped to drought-prone areas. “The obstacles that delayed the Yettinahole project have now been cleared,” the Minister said. He added that the project has an allocation of 20 TMC of water, with priority given to drinking water needs.
Minister Muniyappa said the combined impact of Yettinahole, KC Valley and HN Valley projects would improve groundwater levels, revive agriculture, enhance employment opportunities and strengthen rural livelihoods across the region.
