Škoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL) has achieved a significant milestone by rolling out its 5,00,000th engine from its Chakan, Pune facility. This achievement underscores the company's contribution to 'Make in India' initiative and its role as a key player in global automotive manufacturing.
Operational since 2014, the Chakan plant focuses on localised production while maintaining international quality standards. The engines produced cater to both domestic and international markets, reinforcing India’s position as an export centre within the Group’s global network.
SAVWIPL places a strong emphasis on environmental responsibility, incorporating advanced powertrain technologies. The Group’s 1.0-litre TSI engine employs exhaust emission technology, while the 1.5-litre TSI engine features active cylinder technology (ACT) for enhanced fuel efficiency.
Škoda Auto board member for production and logistics, Andreas Dick stated, "Producing 500,000 engines at our Pune facility is a significant milestone, reinforcing India’s role in our global manufacturing network." Domestic sourcing strengthens India’s automotive manufacturing and supply ecosystem.
