RECPDCL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC has formalised two key agreements for the rollout of 33.26 lakh smart prepaid meters under Phase-II of the RDSS Scheme in the Paschim Gujarat Vij Company (PGVCL) jurisdiction.
The PIA Agreement and the DDF Agreement were signed on 10 July, 2025, in Rajkot, Gujarat, to facilitate the implementation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) through the appointment of an AMI Service Provider (AMISP) on a design, build, finance, own, operate, and transfer (DBFOOT) basis.
The AMISP Contract Agreement was also executed between RECPDCL and Bharat Grid, a joint venture between Actis and EDF India. The signing ceremony was attended by key stakeholders including K.P Joshi, IAS, MD-PGVCL; TSC Bosh, CEO-RECPDCL; Saurabh Rastogi, Executive Director-RECPDCL, and other senior officials.
The project aims to drive operational efficiency, reduce technical and commercial losses, minimize downtime, and foster better consumer engagement, aligning with national goals of power sector modernization and digital transformation in electricity distribution.
