Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged the winner in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections with a massive two-third majority after a span of 15 years. The Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party ruled the state during this tenure.
The state, which accounts for 12 percent of India’s GDP, ranks second highest in terms of poverty level. Uttar Pradesh needs a lot of development when it comes to infrastructure, literacy rate, poverty eradication, employment opportunities, etc.
The manifesto ‘Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra 2017’, released by the BJP during the assembly elections, was aimed at economic development, growth rate, ease of doing business, youth, law and order, and employment generation. During the year 2016, a total of 11 projects worth Rs 23,464 crore undertaken by the State Government were completed, and 18 projects worth Rs 5,385 crore undertaken by the Central Government were completed.
The latest project cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) in Uttar Pradesh is six laning of Handia-Varanasi section of NH-2. The 73 km road project, under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase-V is estimated to cost Rs 2,147.33 crore.
Considering the above proposed development by the newly formed government, the state could see a huge infrastructural development.
