Welspun Energy is planning to set up a solar plant in Assam with an investment of Rs 200 crore.
The company intends to set up 25 MW power project in the state. However, the plan is subject to the state government's policies to promote generation of renewable energy such as solar, wind or biomass. The project will require 100-150 acre. Once announced, the project will be completed within six to eight months.
Besides, the company plans to install 750 MW of solar power plants in the next three years across the country. Out of that, over 250 MW of power projects are being developed currently.
Welspun Energy also intends to develop 1,000 MW of wind power projects in the next three years and its focus states are Karnataka, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.
