Azure Power’s 10 MW solar power plant was inaugurated by Akhilesh Yadav, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, on 2 February, 2015.
It is the state’s first large scale solar plant under the UP solar policy. The plant is spread across 56 acre of land at Karharakala, in Mahoba district. The plant was commissioned well in advance of the contracted scheduled date and will electrify 10,000 households.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the UP government and Azure Power in 2014 to promote solar power installations.
Under the UP Solar Power Policy 2013, operational until 31 March 2017, the state government has a target of installing 500 MW capacity of solar power by 2017.
Azure Power has its presence in 14 states and has also installed India's first megawatt scale solar rooftop project in Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat.
