NTPC has decided to set up a 300 MW solar park, which will come up in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.
The company will set up this park through competitive bidding so that the state is able to receive solar energy at a low tariff. Also, NTPC has expressed interest to set up a 250 MW solar plant near Guntur.
Apart from this, the Andhra Pradesh government has requested NTPC to fast track work on the proposed 4,000 MW plant at Pudimadaka, in Visakhapatnam district. For this purpose, the state government has directed the Industries department to finalise a suitable site within 15 days so that NTPC can go ahead with setting up of the project.
The state government has also asked NTPC to build up 15-day coal stock at its thermal plant at Simhadri, in Visakhapatnam.
In order to solve the power crisis in the newly formed state, about 200 MW from NTPC Jhajjar (Haryana) and 100 MW from NTPC Barh (Bihar) will be taken. Power will also be availed from NTPC Farakka on a long term basis.
