Mumbai and Surat’s diamond barons have finalised the design of the proposed Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) project. Architect Jitendra Patel’s airport style design was finalised last week after voting by 50 prominent diamond barons.
The Chief Minister performed the ground breaking ceremony of the SDB project at Khajod site, near Surat, on 15 February. The ground work for construction will however, start after the monsoons according to Jitendra Patel.
As per the finalised design, there will be a total of 10 buildings consisting of 10,000 offices ranging from 300 sq ft to 50,000 sq ft. In total, 91 lakh sq ft saleable area will be available. There will be 75 lakh sq ft basement construction.
SDB will be part of the proposed Surat Dream City. The SDB is expected to be completed in a maximum of four years.
